Chris met the challenge!

From Chris: Mannequins were the first idea that came to me, then wire ones. I found many online so adapted them for blackwork. The border uses vintage Dresden plates given to me, the box says “Granny’s Quilt Patches.” I kept some of them intact. Dresden plates are a very traditional quilt block made out of fan like blades of printed fabric and stitched together in a circle pattern. Traditionally they are then appliquéd to a muslin background. The background is a handkerchief of my grandmother’s.

The piece is 14 inches by 14 inches. The texture on the handkerchief is achieved by hand quilting.
