Jan and Theresa met the challenge

threadAre you working on the house challenge? We’d love to hear from you. Below you’ll see our entries.

Starting this month we’ll be sending out a ‘needle thread cloth’ related goodie to someone randomly chosen who has participated in the challenge. This month’s goodie will be a spool of DMC Diamant metallic thread (hard to find in the US)  in Light Gold. You must send your photo by July 31, 2013 to be eligible for the giveaway. Otherwise you can send in an entry to us anytime with your house/couch stitch entries.

A new challenge will be issued on Thursday, August 1!

FROM JAN: It was fun to do and loved the way the yarn is all lumpy!  I think the whole thing looks like a Fairy house! This is my entry. I knitted a house shape with some fabulous hand-dyed and spun yarn, added some ‘eyelash’ yarn for the thatched roof, couched some silk variegated thread horizontally, added some sparkle yarn for interest and finished with two quilted/dyed pieces for the door and window. Then I added a heart to the door that says ‘welcome’.

FROM THERESA: Metallic paints have found their way into my studio and I’ve been making lots of papers with them. A group of them turned into 4″ x 4″ collages with the house as a theme. The couching came in as the outline of the house.

  2. Theresa,
How different our ‘houses’ are…………that’s why I like this NTC challenge. Love the geometric feeling of your houses and the metallic paints you used. Looks like a nice little village, indeed!
Can’t wait to see what the other entries are!!!!
